Joining the Team: What’s Needed

Below you will find Droste’s policies and standardized procedures for onboarding new employees, independent contractors, private practitioners, interns and volunteers to facilitate a seamless transition into their roles and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Here is a brief overview of the hiring pipeline at Droste...

    1. The first step in getting hired at Droste is an interview with the Executive Director.

    2. Next, reference checks will be completed.

    3. After this, an offer letter is extended. If the offer is accepted in writing, onboarding processes begin.

  • Onboarding Preparation:

Once the offer letter is signed and returned, the following documents will be requested from the New Hire for submission prior to start date:

    -Resume

    -Diploma

    -I-9 Documents

-Professional License and malpractice insurance (if applicable)

    -Photo/bio for the website

    Background checks will be performed.

Once all documents are received, a start date will be agreed upon and designated personnel will create your Droste email address. (initial.last@drostemhservices.org)

Finally, you will be copied on an intro email that will go out to staff from the Executive Director introducing you to the greater team.

  • Unlike employees of Droste, Independent Contractors are in control of the hours they work, and for therapists - the clients they want to work with. While Independent Contractors are not employees, the hiring process is similar.

After an interview and reference checks are conducted, Droste will send a Letter of Agreement outlining the terms of the contract for review and signature. Once that is returned, Droste will request paperwork including:

    -Resume

    -Diploma

    -W-9 Documents

    -New Team Member Information Page

-Copy of License and Malpractice Insurance (if applicable)

    -Photo/bio for the Droste website

    Background checks will be performed.

Once all documents are received, a start date will be agreed upon and designated personnel will create your Droste email address. (initial.last@drostemhservices.org)

You will be copied on an intro email that will go out to staff from the Executive Director introducing you to the greater team.

For fee-for-service therapists, Droste will verify desired caseload, schedule, and type of clients/issues.

Droste will also schedule an orientation. All fee-for-service therapists have access to clinical support from the Executive Director and those without full licensure will be assigned a supervisor who will meet regularly for supervision.

  • Private Practitioners looking to rent office space and who also want to be a part of Droste’s team by either seeing Droste clients or providing supervision, will meet with a member of Droste’s designated personnel to discuss pricing and room availability and any rental reductions available.

    Droste will then:

    1. provide a rental agreement for review and signature

    2. verify professional licensure and valid malpractice insurance.

    3. Droste email will be created for the Practitioner and

    4. they will be oriented to Droste’s policies and procedures.

Note: some practitioners rent space at Droste and do not join Droste’s team. For these practitioners, there is a set rental fee agreed upon and they sign a rental agreement with Droste.

  • Droste has a limited number of internship opportunities each year. Interns are different from volunteers, staff, or independent contractors as they are working on agreed-upon tasks in exchange for academic credit.

Interns do not receive separate payment for the hours worked.

For any Intern paperwork is required including:

    1) Letter of Agreement that outlines the policies and procedures, especially around confidentiality, that the intern is agreeing to

    2) Copy of Resumé,

    3) School Agreement/Contract outlining what the school’s responsibilities are, what the intern’s responsibilities are, and what Droste’s responsibilities are,

    4) New Team Member Info Page

    5) Liability insurance (sometimes interns have to purchase separately, sometimes school provides)

All interns will then receive onboarding training that will include an orientation to Droste and a review of any policies or procedures applicable to their work.

Interns at Droste will either be assigned programmatic tasks (generalist interns) or clinical work (clinical interns).

All interns at Droste receive at least one hour of supervision weekly with additional supervision time available as needed. Group supervision may also be included as part of the supervision plan. It is each intern’s responsibility to come to supervision prepared with questions, challenges, or successes to discuss. It is the supervisor’s responsibility to ensure time is dedicated for supervision each week.

Each program has different requirements regarding what assignments are expected to be completed as a part of the internship experience. It is the student’s responsibility to know if there are journals, process recordings, or other assignments like an education plan needed and to complete them in a timely fashion. It is the supervisor’s responsibility to provide timely and substantive feedback on those assignments (within one week).

Similarly, the intern is responsible for asking for any necessary evaluations and providing at least a week’s notice for those evaluations.

  • Volunteers at Droste are individuals who contribute their time and skills in order to provide support to Droste’s mission and make a positive difference in the community.

Volunteers are asked to sign a Letter of Agreement outlining expectations, especially around confidentiality. For long-term volunteers, a photo/bio will be requested for the website. A Droste email is created for all volunteers.
