A Conversation on Love w/ Dr. Lawrence Ian Reed

$60.00

May 20, 2025 | 5–7PM
Bar V (Ages 21+) | 10 Morton St, New York, NY 10014

Each ticket comes with a complimentary glass of wine and appetizers.

What is Love? How many of us have tried, in vain, to love an objectively great person only to have our attention gripped by the swagger or sway of the bad boy or girl? Why is love? What’s the point of dismissing the billions of others in favor of just one?

It turns out that love may function as a commitment device, providing a solution for a class of social dilemmas termed commitment problems. Here, I will provide a theoretical framework for love that will answer these questions and others. All with the aim of helping us all get lucky in love.

Professor Lawrence Ian Reed is a Psychologist and Professor at NYU and Columbia University. Professor Reed has done extensive research on facial expressions of emotion, focusing on why we so visibly express our private motivational and emotional states.

All proceeds benefit Droste Mission Services, supporting our work in making compassionate, accessible mental healthcare available to everyone.
